It's All in My Genes

As I was watching the Soul Train Awards, I couldn't help but notice how amazing the artists looked. Yes, many of them were styled and prepped by professionals but it wasn't just the clothes, hair or makeup. Many of them haven't aged a bit.

Busy as a Bee

Hi all!

Lately I’ve been neglecting my blog because I’ve been blessed with sooo much work! I learned that building a great network is all about cultivating relationships with the right people. Networking has to be genuine and with a wide array of people. Everyone may be at different levels in their career; but, everyone’s ultimate goal is SUCCESS.

Strictly Business

Outside of makeup, I live a separate life in the corporate world (this is only temporary...a change is def coming). I’ve read alot of books including but not limited to: Robert Kyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad, The 48 Laws of Power, Suzie Orman’s books, TIME, The Wall Street Journal.  Sunday nights at 7PM are reserved for 60 Minutes. Sometimes, I listen to NPR or I hop onto conference calls with my fav biz coach Kelly O'Neil.  I’m not just a pretty girl dabbling in makeup. I enjoy staying abreast of world news & business trends. One of my bff’s reminds me of a modern-day Encyclopedia Britannica because I can Google her whenever I need an answer about ANYTHING.

I say all of this because I am very well-rounded. I have personal & business goals. Yes, you can have a viable business in makeup. FYI, the cosmetics business generates X-billions of dollars each year. So there is always a need for seasoned professionals in my area of expertise. But I’m dollars and sense type of person when it comes to business. I need to see a viable return on my investment. I took a risk and invested in building a makeup career and I have exceeded my ROI. I’m willing to pay to ensure that my brand’s mission/purpose is communicated to my clients in the most effective manner.  I’m constantly on the lookout for new designs, website developers, products and techniques.

Building a viable business takes lots of time and dedication but in the end, it’s definitely worth it! Research and networking are key components to achieving real growth. Surround yourself with other people who have a similar zest for life & business and watch what happens :)

BTW, I loved Halle Berry in that movie!

Iman Cosmetics

Sam Fine is one of my fav makeup artists! This morning I found some notes from his visit to DC in February. Now every time this man mentioned a product, I scribbled it down in my notebook. I purchased many of his recommendations and they are staples in my kit. Sam always mentions Iman Cosmetics but I never had the time or confidence to try them out until of late.

Makeup Wish List

After busy season (spring, summer), I'm gonna treat myself to a few new goodies. My kit has come a long way and I'm blessed that it can play alongside some of the best makeup artists in terms of products and tools. I've invested heavily into transforming my kit into a high quality, functional, efficient, lean mean fighting machine (lol).
